What began as coincidence had crystallized into tradition: on the sixth of July, they would have dinner with Ramsey Acton on his birthday.įive years earlier, Irina had been collaborating with Ramsey's then-wife, Jude Hartford, on a children's book. With both stories her decision imapcts upon her life and other relationships and she’s left wondering whether she has chosen the right man? She questions her decision once she begins fantasising about Ramsey. In the other narrative, Irina resists, makes her excuses and leaves for home and and the safety of her relationship with Lawrence. Irina and Ramsey begin a steamy affair and struggles to keep up the façade that all is well in her relationship with Lawrence. In one, Irina gives in to temptation and kisses the spontaneous, passionate Ramsey, betraying the emotionally withdrawn but devoted Lawrence and their secure, supportive life together. Here, the life of Irina diverges and using a parallel-universe sturcture, we are presented both stories simultaneously in a dual narrative. After an indulgent night Irina realises her attraction to Ramsey and is tempted to kiss him. This year, Lawrence is away for work so it is left up to Irina and Ramsey to celebrate.

It is a tradition that they spend Ramsey’s birthday with him. The couple are are friends with Ramsey Acton - afamous British snooker player.

Irina is an American children's book illustrator living in London with her long-time partner, Lawrence Trainer.
